Scott Miller Parole Decision

The NSW State Parole Authority has granted Scott Miller parole.

He will be released on conditional and supervised parole on a date not later than 21 June 2024.

The decision was made at a meeting chaired by The Honourable Geoffrey Bellew, SC.

Miller is serving a total sentence of 5 years and 6 months on initial charges of supply prohibited drug - large commercial quantity and participate in criminal group.

This sentence commenced 16 February 2021 and will expire 15 August 2026. The non-parole period of 3 years expired 15 February 2024.

Miller was subsequently charged with further drug supply offences.

The Authority denied him parole last January, as he remained an unsentenced offender on outstanding charges.

The charges were finalised in the District Court last month, allowing Miller to apply to the Authority for reconsideration of parole, under the provisions of Manifest Injustice.

Community Corrections advised the Authority that Miller has been assessed at a low-medium risk of reoffending and recommended his release to supervised parole.

“Mr Miller has a long history of substance abuse and appears to display some insight into this problematic behaviour,” Community Corrections reported.

Community Corrections advised Miller’s classification as an unsentenced offender rendered him ineligible for programs in custody, but it has formed a comprehensive plan to address his criminogenic factors and assist his reintegration in the community.

Miller has continued tertiary education while in custody and plans to finalise his studies on release.
