Parole Conditions

All inmates, whether released on parole automatically by the Sentencing Courts, or by a State Parole Authority parole order must comply with 11 Standard Conditions while on parole.

The Standard Conditions of parole are as per clause 214 of the Crimes (Administration of Sentences) Regulation 2014.

Standard Conditions

1. You must be of good behaviour.

2. You must not commit any offences.

3. You must adapt to normal lawful community life when you are first released on parole:

4. You must report:

a) to a community corrections officer at a time and place directed, or
b) if you have not been given a direction, to a Community Corrections office within 7 days of your release. While your parole is supervised:

5. You must report to a community corrections officer at the times and places directed by the officer*.

6. You must comply with all reasonable directions from a community corrections officer about:

a) the place where you will live
b) participating in programs, treatment, interventions or other related activities
c) participating in employment, education, training or other related activities
d) not undertaking specified employment, education, training, volunteer, leisure or other activities
e) not associating with specified people
f) not visiting or frequenting specified places or areas
g) ceasing drug use
h) ceasing or reducing alcohol use
i) drug and alcohol testing
j) monitoring your compliance with the parole order
k) giving consent to third parties to provide information to the officer that is

7. You must comply with any other reasonable directions from a community corrections officer.

8. You must permit a community corrections officer to visit you at the place where you live at any time and permit the officer to enter the premises when they visit you.

9. You must notify a community corrections officer if you change your address, contact details or employment. You must do this before the change occurs if practicable, or within 7 days of the change occurring.

10. You must not leave New South Wales without permission from a community corrections manager.

11. You must not leave Australia without permission from the State Parole Authority.

The State Parole Authority has legislative powers to also impose extra, specific conditions. These are Additional Conditions on a parole order which an offender must also comply with.

Additional Conditions

15. You must submit to electronic monitoring and comply with all instructions given by your Officer in relation to the operation of monitoring systems.

16. You must;

a) abstain from alcohol; and/or
b) not use a prohibited drug or substance, except those that have been prescribed to you;
c) undertake and maintain AOD programs or counselling if directed to do so, specifically [specify name of program].

17. You must refrain entirely from gambling and must, if so directed by your Officer, seek assistance/counselling in controlling your gambling.

18. You must enter, satisfactorily complete and not discharge yourself (without the approval of the Officer), the following Residential Rehabilitation Centre [specify name of centre].

19. You must, if so directed by your Officer, participate in the following intervention,

[including Ngara Nura/VOTP/CUBIT Maintenance or other specified service provider].

20. You must comply with all directions of the mental health team, including treatment and medication (and if applicable, the conditions of a Community Treatment Order).

21. You must not engage in any activity, paid or unpaid, involving the control of money or assets of other people or organisations.

22. You must not possess or use a firearm or any prohibited weapon.

23. You must comply with all conditions of a Drug Court order.

24. You must not contact, communicate with, watch, stalk, harass or intimidate the victim/s and/or the victims’ family.

25. You must not contact or communicate with the victim/s and/or victim/s families without the express prior approval of your Officer.

26. You must not be in the company of a person under the age of 16 years unless accompanied by a responsible adult, as determined by your Officer. You also must not engage in written or electronic communication (including through social media) with any person under the age of 16, other than with those approved by your Officer.

27. You must comply with all conditions and requirements of the Child Protection Register.

28. You must not contact, communicate or associate with your co-offender/s, without the express prior approval of your Officer.

29. You must not contact or communicate with Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) Organised Criminal Network (OCN) members or associates; without the express prior approval of your Officer. You must also not visit or frequent any OMCG and OCN premises frequented by members and associates of OMCGs and OCNs.

30. You must not frequent or visit [specify place, suburb or LGA].

31. Pending registration of your parole order in the other jurisdiction, you must submit to the supervision of Community Corrections in New South Wales. Then, upon formal arrangements being made to transfer the parole order, in accordance with the provisions of the Parole Orders (Transfer) Act 1983, you must reside in [specify relevant State or Territory jurisdiction].

32. You must submit to the supervision of Community Corrections in New South Wales, until such time as you have been removed from Australia. If you are released from Immigration detention or return to Australia before the expiry of your parole order, you must report to Community Corrections in New South Wales within seven days.
